Harrower House Extension
The external footprint of this red sandstone 1930’s bungalow remained unaltered. Internally, through the clever removal of several walls, existing rooms are combined to create a stunning ‘L’ shaped kitchen/dining/living area without the need for an extension. The removal of the existing elevated rear porch and external stair allows for views to be opened up to the parkland beyond. In the middle of the plan, the smallest existing bedroom gives way to a new open plan staircase. This leads to a new attic conversion comprising 3 bedrooms and shower room. The formal rooms to the front of the house remain unaltered ensuring the character of the house remains intact.
"We employed MacDonald Architecture Ltd to design a loft conversion and an open plan living/kitchen dining space. We were very impressed with Darren’s ideas and final design, particularly as he was able to reuse some of the period features we were keen to retain. Throughout the build Darren has supported us in selecting and dealing with builders and has kept an eye on work progress. We are very satisfied with the work and would have no hesitation in using MacDonald Architecture Ltd in the future”John Harrower
